Housing & Accommodation

There is a major housing crisis in Ireland, especially in the cities. It can be very difficult to find accommodation, so be sure to start searching as soon as possible.
Once you receive your Stamp 4, you are entitled to apply for social housing. The Peter McVerry Trust can help you apply for Housing Assistance Payments (HAP). Once you are approved for HAP you need to check in with the Cork City Council each week – it is very important that you log onto the Choice Based Letting (CBL) system and bid on any suitable properties which are advertised.
You can also find rooms and properties available for rent on Daft.ie, MyHome.ie, and on local community groups on Facebook.
It is a good idea to create a Tenant CV on HomeHak, so you can quickly and easily share information about yourself with prospective landlords and housemates.
