Travelling in Cork & Ireland

There is decent public transport in and between major cities. For travel to smaller towns and villages in rural Ireland, travel by car is usually the best option. Google Maps is very helpful for planning trips, including providing real time information on buses.
If you are living in Cork City, much of the city is accessible by foot. If you require to travel further distances, the bus is usually the best option. Some areas are also accessible by train.
Bus Eireann accept cash and leap cards. They do not accept debit/credit cards. It is most economical to use a leap card, as the fares are cheaper than the cash fare. Standard adult and child leap cards are available to purchase in TFI Leap agents and young adult and student cards are available to purchase online. Click here to learn more.
If you are travelling to Dublin, you can travel by bus or train. The bus is usually the most economical option, and the most popular service provider is Aircoach.
